First Bank and Trust Company's "Pack the Bus" Event Expands to 26 Locations in 2024

ABINGDON, Virg., Jun. 27, 2024 - First Bank and Trust Company is pleased to announce the expansion of its annual "Pack the Bus" event to 26 office locations this summer. The event, primarily focused in Southwest Virginia communities for the past seven years, will now benefit students and families across Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
"Pack the Bus" is a bank-driven initiative that originated from the efforts of a single employee in Fairlawn, Virginia. Generously supported by employees, customers, and the community each year, Pack The Bus is aimed at providing essential school supplies to students in need.

Recognizing the significant impact of this event year after year, First Bank and Trust Company has pledged to donate $2,500 to 26 school districts, totaling $65,000 to schools throughout the Bank’s footprint in Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina at the time donated supplies are delivered at the conclusion of the event. “We are always looking for opportunities to support youth in our communities. As a local community bank, it is part of who we are, and we strive to be involved in and give back to our communities in any way that we can,” stated Mark Nelson, President & CEO of First Bank and Trust Company.

To participate, individuals can donate school supplies at any of the 26 participating First Bank and Trust Company locations. A list of needed school supplies for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year can be found on the event's official website: Pack the Bus | First Bank & Trust Company

Donations will be accepted at First Bank and Trust locations from June 13th to July 31st, Monday through Friday. The generous contributions will help students start the school year with the necessary supplies for a successful academic journey.
